OREGON STATE was supposed to be the one racking up the rushing yards Saturday in Pasadena. Coming off a performance against Cal where their first four drives went for touchdowns, it wasn't hard to imagine Jacquizz Rodgers and the Beavs getting it done on the ground. Instead, it was host UCLA who ran up and down the Rose Bowl turf.
UCLA had 210 yards rushing against the Beavers. Oregon State managed just 103 net yards on the ground.
Quarterback
Richard Brehaut
was 13-of-19 for 127 yards passing. More crushing to Oregon State was that Brehaut also rushed for a career-high 61 yards. The total in the box score would have been more if not for two late game sacks.
UCLA now owns a 40-15-4 edge in the overall series with Oregon State.
Oregon State’s
James Dockery
picked off Brehaut in the fouth quarter, the only turnover of the game. Over the last 82 games, Oregon State is now 33-8 when committing fewer turnovers than its opponent.
Oregon State is now 40-16 in the months of October, November and December since the 2004 season. In November, OSU is 17-7 (.708) dating back to the 2004 season.
Jacquizz Rodgers
is now ranked 13th on the Pac-10’s all-time rushing list with 3,494 yards. He passed Ontiwaun Carter of Arizona (3,457) this week.
Quizz, who had five catches on Saturday for 20 yards, is the career leader in receptions by a running back in OSU program history. He now has 131 receptions for his career.
Joe Halahuni
– his first quarter touchdown reception was the ninth of his career.
Dominic Glover
-- his first quarter sack was the first of his career.
Jordan Poyer
– His second quarter sack was the first of his career.
Senior kicker
Kai Forbath
won the game with a 51-yard field goal as time expired after missing two field goals (49, 46 yards) earlier in the game. Forbath is now 10-of-13 in his career from 50+ yards. Forbath now has 83 career field goals, just two off the school record of 85 set by John Lee (1982-85).
Sophomore tailback
Johnathan Franklin
rushed for 100 yards on 23 carries with one touchdown, his sixth of the season. Franklin now has four 100-yard games this season and six in his career.
True freshman linebacker
Jordan Zumwalt
led the Bruins with a career-high nine tackles and also had one sack.
