BASEBALL: OSU takes series from Stanford

OREGON STATE TOOK the series with over No. 12 Stanford with a 5-4 win on Sunday. OSU improved to 30-15 overall while Stanford dropped to 29-14 overall and 11-10 in league games. Next up is a tilt with Oregon.
Joey Matthews and Dylan Davis both singled with one out Sunday and Michael Conforto walked on five pitches to load the bases for Dunn, who came into the 10th 1-for-4 on the day. He ripped a shot to the gap in left for the game-winning hit.
It sent the Beavers to the series victory after the club’s 4-2 win on Saturday.
Oregon State
heads to Eugene Tuesday for a non-conference game with Oregon. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT at PK Park.
The game will air on a tape delayed basis on ComcastSportsNet Northwest in the state of Oregon (channel 37 on Comcast). It will air first at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. showing on Wednesday and 11 p.m. on Friday.
On Sunday, the Beavers held an advantage over the Cardinal for most of the game, taking a 3-0 lead out of the gate.
The win went to Oregon State reliever Tony Bryant, who allowed three hits and a run in two innings of work to improve to 5-1. Dunn, Ryan Gorton and Joey Matthews all had two hits for the Beavers, who finished with 12 overall. Stanford, meanwhile, was had eight hits, with Piscotty, who started in left, leading the team with four.
Dan Child started for the Beavers and worked seven innings, allowing four hits and two runs for his ninth quality start of the season, though it goes in the books as a no-decision. Sahil Bloom also did not figure in the decision after starting for the Cardinal. He worked 1 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and three runs.
OREGON STATE NOTES:
Oregon State scored first for the ninth consecutive game and improved to 6-3 during that stretch … The Beavers improved to 30-5 this season when scoring three or more runs … Ryan Dunn extended his hit streak to six games with a single in the first … Head coach Pat Casey improved to 22-22 all-time against Stanford … The series win was Oregon State’s first at home against Stanford since sweeping the 2006 series … Attendance Sunday was a season-high 2,795 … The three-game series saw a combined attendance of 7,575 … Jake Rodriguez made his second start of the year at second base … His first was April 14 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
