THE BEAVER NATION got all the excitement they wanted, and a little bit more, as No. 18 Oregon State pulled out a thrilling 38-35 win at Arizona. Tight end Connor Hamlett caught the winning touchdown pass from Sean Mannion -- one of four he threw on the night -- and corner Rashaad Reynolds close the door for good on Arizona's final drive with a nifty pick that finally, irrevocably ended the game.
Oregon State
bested Arizona on the road 38-35 on Saturday to improve to 3-0 overall this season and 2-0 in the Pac-12 Conference. Mike Riley became the winningest coach in Oregon State history with the win.
Here's a quick snapshot to hold you over -- What kind of a game was it? A nail biter down until the very end, as OSU narrowly escaped Tucson victorious after Hamlett snatched up his first touchdown of the 2012 regular season to give the Beavers a three point edge over 'Zona very late in the fourth quarter.
It was a true roller coaster of a game – Arizona posted 21 points in the third quarter, succeeding where Wisconsin and UCLA failed.
BF.C's Drew Wilson-McGrath talked this week about how the game would come down to defense – and oh boy was he right.
The game ended on a pick from Reynolds with less than a minute remaining on the clock and Arizona on the move.
OSU made a statement tonight – they said “Hey, we deserve our ranking -- and maybe a little bit more.”
In depth analysis and much more to come later on tonight. Don’t start celebrating without us.
