POLL TRACKER: Beavs climb in both polls

Posted Sep 30, 2012

ON PAPER, there didn't appear to be much room for the Beavers to move up in the polls -- there weren't many losses from the teams ahead of them. But climb higher they did..

Oregon State went from No. 18 to No. 14 in the AP poll on Sunday. And the Beavs climbed from No. 21 in the USAToday Coaches' poll to No. 17.

In the AP poll, Oregon State went past Clemson and TCU despite both of those teams winning. Oklahoma had a bye, and the Beavs jumped over them too.

In the Coaches', OSU rose above Nebraska (win) Mississippi State (bye) and Michigan State (loss).

The Beavs not only weren't on the pollsters' radars to begin the season, they didn't even receive a single vote in the preseason polls "Others" category. But three straight wins to open the season over teams that were at one time ranked No. 13, No. 19 and No. 21, with two of those games on the road, has changed all that.

Oregon State hosts WSU next on Saturday with the kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
