Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian quarterback Luke Del Rio took a surprise official visit to Oregon State last month, but Del Rio said he still remains committed to Oklahoma State.
Still, he's not completely shutting out other schools.
"I'm still hearing a little bit from schools and still keeping in contact with coaches, but I'm not really bringing in a ton of new schools. I have a good idea of who's interested and who's not."
He's also planning to take a couple more official visits.
"I had a good time on my visit to Oregon State and I visited Alabama unofficially for the Mississippi State and I will take an official to Alabama at some time," said Del Rio. "And I will take an official visit to Oklahoma State in either two weeks or after the season."
Del Rio and Valor Christian continue to roll in the Colorado State playoffs, so the end of the season may be the soonest that Del Rio can visit Stillwater.
But he stays in frequent contact with the Cowboy coaches.
"Me and Coach (Todd) Monken get along really great and see eye-to-eye on everything," said Del Rio. "We're great family friends and its exciting to get to play for him. We're great family friends and he's a really good coach."
Del Rio will be leaving for college in January, and he wants to get his visits done in December.
"I'm graduating in January, and I'll be at Oklahoma State in January," said Del Rio.
Del Rio said that even with the correspondence some schools are keeping, he's glad he made an early decision.
"I was so stressed last year about getting my name on the radar when I was in Florida, so this year, to be recruited and committed, and have it all settled down, it's really nice and kind of peaceful," said Del Rio.
In the meantime, he's hoping that his one year at Valor Christian (he moved to Colorado in the offseason, when his father, Jack, was hired as the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos), nets him a state championship.
"We have one goal in mind, and that is to win the state championship here and I want to do that for all the guys that have been here, and for all of the seniors," said Del Rio.
This weekend, Valor Christian will face Araphoe in the state quarterfinals.
