A first half to smile about for Cougs

PULLMAN -- Until today, the last time Washington State led a game at halftime was nearly two months ago. Indeed, except for an unfortunate interception that led to a Washington TD, WSU's Cougars played a first half to remember here today in the 105th renewal of the Apple Cup rivalry.

The Cougars have dominated so far today. And statistic tells the tale better than this one: Washington has 13 net yards in rushing.

WSU holds a 183-96 advantage in total yards.
The Cougar D started the game with an Ioane Gauta sack of Keith Price and played with fight and fury the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, the Cougar offense has been the height of efficiency. Jeff Tuel has completed 16 of 23 passes for 173 yards, with Dominque Williams grabbing five of those balls for 99 yards. Sixty-one of Williams' yards came on a player that set up WSU's short TD run by senior Carl Winston -- WSU's first rushing TD in nearly two months.
