BREAKING: American Samoa OL commits to OSU
"He's committed, it's a done deal," said Smart.
Lengthy and versatile, Launia will come to Oregon State as an offensive lineman but he can play on either side of the line, said Smart, and he has room still to pack weight onto his frame.
Oregon State likes his length, he's got long arms and his aggression is off the charts. He's just a high motor guy who finishes blocks and you'll see him block downfield.
Indeed, Smart says Launia was regularly seen 20-30 yards blocking downfield this season.
"He just likes to finish," said Smart.
AND A RECRUITING ASSIST goes to Noke Tago, from what Smart said. Tago signed with OSU last year out of American Samoa and did a bang-up job in recruiting Launia to Corvallis.
"I'll tell you what, Noke Tago sold him on Oregon State. He hosted him on their visit and they absolutely hit it off. When he committed yesterday, Launia said he couldn't wait to go see Noke and go play football with him," said Smart.
