CORVALLIS -- So, about that report that said Mike Riley would interview with Wisconsin by cbssports…
Riley and Wisconsin?
Cliff Kirkpatrick of the Gazette Times mentions that the report is untrue with regard to Mike Riley, but perhaps there is Wisconsin interest in Oregon State d-coordinator Mark Banker.
Wisconsin is looking to replace former coach Bret Bielema, who unexpectedly left for the Arkansas post.
The cbssports.com report cited two anonymous sources close to the Wisconsin program.
The last time there was such intrigue surrounding Riley and a job opening was three years ago when USC was in play.
Depending on which media source you read, Riley was all but gone, offered and turned down the job or was never contacted directly by USC and had no intentions of ever leaving Corvallis.
Right around that time, Riley agreed to a three year contract extension that took his deal through 2019. A clause in the contract triggers another year with each bowl game, so Riley is with OSU through 2020.
Riley's contract pays him a reported $1.5 million per year.
