Elk Grove (Calif.) Cosumnes Oaks receiver Alex Van Dyke made the most of a weekend visit to Los Angeles.
The Scout 300 prospect took in an unofficial visit to UCLA on Saturday before going to USC on Sunday for the Trojans’ Junior Day.
“It was a good weekend and I learned a lot about the two schools,” said Van Dyke.
Van Dyke started the weekend with a trip to Westwood.
“UCLA was good and the campus was beautiful,” said Van Dyke. “I got to meet with Coach Angus McClure and Coach (Taylor) Mazzone. Most of the coaches were on vacation, but they made it a point to be there so we could see the school.”
Van Dyke got a chance to tour the campus and visit a familiar face.
“We toured the campus and got to see it all and it was so nice there,” said Van Dyke. “We also got to spend some time with Marcus Rios (a former teammate at Cosumnes Oaks), and it was great to talk with him.”
Van Dyke doesn’t have an offer from the Bruins yet, but is hopeful one will come soon.
“I’m hopeful they will offer me,” said Van Dyke. “Coach Angus said he will be coming up again in the spring to check me out.”
On Sunday, Van Dyke was at USC for Junior Day, and had another good visit.
“I loved the campus and the facilities there,” said Van Dyke. “They’ve expressed a lot of interest in me. They haven’t offered me either but Coach (Lane) Kiffin hinted at it that it could happen.”
Van Dyke spent time with Tee Martin, the receivers coach for USC and offensive coordinator Clay Helton.
“Coach Helton has come by and we talked with him and Coach Martin and they said they will be coming back and visiting in the spring,” said Van Dyke.
Van Dyke also anticipates going to the Trojans’ camp in summer.
“They want me to come back for their camp and compete,” said Van Dyke.
Van Dyke said he’s planning to visit Cal next, with the Bears having already offered.
