BASEBALL: Poll gazing

BASEBALL: Poll gazing

JUST HOW MUCH of a statement did Oregon State make this weekend? Almost all of the top teams in the baseball polls lost a game this past week. Will Oregon State's 2-1 road series win, over another highly ranked squad in Oregon, move them up? The best chance for said movement would seem to be in the Baseball America poll.

OSU was ranked No. 4, 4, 6 this past week in the three major polls -- USA Today, Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America, respectively.

Teams ahead of OSU in the Baseball America poll this week:
Vanderbilt went 2-1
LSU went 2-1
North Carolina went 1-2
Cal State Fullerton went 3-0
NC State went 3-0

Teams ahead of OSU in the Collegiate Baseball poll this weekend:
Vanderbilt went 2-1
LSU went 2-1
North Carolina went 1-2

Teams ahead of OSU in the USA Today poll this weekend:
Vanderbilt went 2-1
North Carolina went 1-2
LSU went 2-1

Vanderbilt played unranked Alabama, while LSU played a Top 25 team in Mississippi.

Meanwhile, in a series similar to Oregon State-Oregon, North Carolina played a Top 10 team in Virginia.

Cal State Fullerton played a Top 25 team in UC Irvine. And North Carolina State played unranked Duke.
