Physical Beavs lead 20-10 at half over Utah

OREGON STATE CAME out playing inspired football in the trenches against Utah, mauling the Utes in the first quarter on their way to a 20-10 halftime lead on the road. QB Sean Mannion was spot-on for stretches and Richard Mullaney and Connor Hamlett made some flat-out ridiculous grabs. But Utah fought back in the second quarter, and it's anyone's ball game still headed into the second half.

Oregon State's defense was unrelenting in the first quarter, holding Utah to three three-and-outs.

DE Scott Crichton was Utah's worst nightmare during that stretch.

Sean Mannion unofficially was 15-of-24 for 215 yards and Richard Mullaney and Connor Hamlett made some of the sweetest grabs you'll ever see.

OSU took a 13-0 lead, with Mullaney grabbing a 17-yard TD pass from Mannion and Trevor Romaine drilling a pair of field goals from 49- and 36-yards out.

But Utah found their footing in the second quarter on offense, with a 6-play, 75-yard drive for a touchdown and an 11-play 66-yard drive towards the end of the half that resulted in a field goal.

OSU's o-line has provided excellent pass protection but had difficulty opening running lanes until their second to last possession of the second quarter -- they went 90 yards in 11 plays and a good portion of that was on the ground.

OSU unofficially has 53 yards rushing, Utah has six ground yards at the half.
