In classic Civil War, Beavs come up just shy

THIS CIVIL WAR had more surprises, twists and turns than you could count. Oregon State took a late fourth quarter lead but Oregon drove it right back and took a 36-35 lead. The Beavs had less than 30 seconds left to try and respond, and it wasn't enough.

Sean Mannion nearly completed a stroke to Brandin Cooks that would have put the Beavs within field goal range to win it but it skittered off his hands in tight coverage.

Oregon State ran the ball better than they have all year, with Terron Ward unofficially racking up 145 yards on 17 carries and Storm Woods tacking on another 76 hashes on 15 touches.

Cooks became the all-time single season reception leader in the Pac-12, with 11 grabs for 117 yards against Oregon. He finished the regular season with 119 receptions.

Mannion was 29-47 for 314 yards, with two TDs and one interception.

Oregon State piled up 545 yards against the Ducks, who posted 568 of their own, with 83 coming in the final two minutes on the game-winning drive.
