HOOPS: Beavs three-game win streak ends

COLLIER WENT FOR 32 BUT BEAVS LOSE

OREGON STATE's Devon Collier scored a career-high 32 points for Oregon State (3-2) against DePaul, but the Beavers let the game get away in the second half, and spent much of that final 20 minutes trying to cut down a double digit deficit.

The final score was 93-81.

The beginning of the end for Oregon State came with DePaul leading 45-42 early in the second half. DePaul went on an 11-4 run, and soon after pushed the advantage to 57-45.

The Blue Demons had extended their lead to 19 with 7:18 left in the game.

Devon Collier had a three-point play followed by a putback and Roberto Nelson made a 3-pointer to get the Beavers within two in the first half. DePaul led 43-39 at the break, as Collier scored 22 points in the half for Oregon State on 8-of-10 shooting.

Nelson, who came into the game averaging 27 points, didn't score until there was 9:07 left in the first half. Still, he finished with 19 points.

It was a homecoming for Oregon State head coach and Chicago native Craig Robinson. He grew up on the South Side and was also an assistant at Northwestern.
