Mannion will return to OSU for senior season

THE BEAVS GOT some good news to kick off the week -- Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion announced Monday that he is returning for the 2014 season, his senior year at Oregon State. Mannion, who has graduated from OSU with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies, was told by the NFL College Advisory Committee he projected as a third-round pick but will instead suit up for the Beavs.

Sean Mannion will enter the 2014 season already owning 12 of the school's passing marks, including the Pac-12 record for throwing yards in a season with 4,662.

He will enter the upcoming season needing just 1,839 yards to break the league's career mark of 12,274, (Matt Barkley, USC.)

"I'm excited to return for my senior year," Mannion, a two-time team captain, said in a release from Oregon State. "I weighed the pros and cons of making myself eligible for the Draft with my family and current coaching staff, and came to the conclusion that I have decided to continue my career with my teammates at Oregon State."

Mannion had one of the best seasons in the history of the NCAA in 2013, passing for 4,662 yards, 37 touchdowns and completing 66.3 percent of his passes. He struggled in the second half of the season as better competition was able to put more and more pressure on him. But he recaptured his earlier form in the final two games, including the Christmas Eve win over Boise State in the Hawaii Bowl.

"I also want to thank Beaver Nation for all of the support I have received during my career; playing in Reser Stadium for another season had an impact in my decision," Mannion added. Recommended Stories
