Beavs' Jace Fry is Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week

OREGON STATE left-handed pitcher Jace Fry was named the Pac-12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week Monday, following his complete game, one-hitter in the Beavs' 5-0 win over Cal on Sunday. It is Fry's third such honor of the season.

Fry was dominating in the Beavers' win Sunday, holding California to just one hit – a third-inning single by Vince Bruno – in striking out six for his third complete-game shutout of the season, and fourth of his career. He needed just 98 pitches for the complete-game effort, which was finished in a swift 1:55.

He's the first Oregon State pitcher to be honored three times as POW in the same season since the then-Pac-10 unified prior to the 1999 season.

The Beaverton native has been sharp this season, to say the least. He has a 9-1 record with a 1.59 earned run average in 12 starts. In conference games, he's been even more dominating, posting a 6-1 mark with a 0.98 ERA. Pac-12 foes are batting just .146 against him.

Fry's other honors came March 11 and March 31, and he and Michael Conforto (Feb. 18) have recorded four for the Beavers this year. Oregon State now has 72 Pitcher of the Week honors dating back to 1986. Twenty-six of those have come since 1999.

Oregon State visits Oregon Tuesday night for a non-conference game at PK Park in Eugene that begins at 6:05 p.m. PT. The game can be seen live on the Pac-12 Networks.
