G 5 Will Conroy (6-1, 185) - great passer...tenacious defender...plays with a lot of intensity...one of the leaders of the team...has passed for five or more assists seven times this season...a playmaker...started seven of 12 games...shooting .480 from the field, .358 from downtown, and .634 from the line...in 25.9 minutes averaging 11.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and a team leading 4.5 assists per game.

F 1 Tre Simmons (6-5, 195) - transfer from Green River Community College in Washington...fluid shooter...a scorer who can create his own shot...good size and quickness...shooting .421 from the field, .350 from the three point line, and a team best .842 from the free throw line...in 22.8 minutes is averaging 9.2 points and 3.2 rebounds.

F 42 Mike Jenson (6-9, 220) - put together his first injury free season last year...strong and athletic...rated the top power forward on the West Coast among 2001 high school graduates...has started all 12 games...in 20.2 minutes is averaging 6.1 points and 4.2 rebounds...shooting .491 from the field, a team best .556 from three point range, and .700 from the line.

F 15 Bobby Jones (6-7, 195) - versatile and athletic scorer...unselfish, team player...great perimeter defender with a mental toughness...also a good rebounder...has scored in double digits 10 times this year...posted two double-doubles this year...second on the team in steals with 18...leading the team in scoring (12.3) and rebounding (6.2)...shooting a team best.546 from the field and .677 from the free throw line...has started seven games, played in all 12.

 

The Bench

PG 20 Curtis Allen (6-0, 170) - good court vision...one of the quickest players in the conference...named the teams co-captain...was a first team All-Pac-10 Freshman Team selection in 2001...excellent free throw shooter...decent outside threat...the only senior on the roster...ranks second among all-time Huskies in career three pointers with 139...his .873 free throw percentage is the best in school history and second all-time in the Pac-10...started three games, played in all 12...in 18.4 minutes is shooting .404 from the field, .380 from downtown, and .824 from the line...averaging 6.6 points and 1.6 rebounds.

C/F 30 Anthony Washington (6-9, 220) - physical center who likes to bang with the big boys...runs the floor well...good shot blocker and rebounder...has played in 10 games...averaging 4.9 points and 2.7 rebounds...shooting .422 from the field and .524 from the line.

C/F 4 Hakeem Rollins (6-7, 200) - transfer from Mesa Junior College...strong...has long arms...can bang down low or shoot the 15-footer...good defender on the block...started five, played in 12 games...in 20.7 minutes is averaging 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds...shooting .424 from the filed, and .548 from the free throw line.

PG 2 Nate Robinson (5-9, 170) - great leaper...also plays on the football team...hard nosed player who drips with confidence...energizes the crowd and team...earned Freshman All-American and All-Pac-10 Freshman honors last year...in 23.5 minutes is averaging 9.7 points and 3.0 rebounds...shooting .361 from the field, .364 from three point range, and .815 from the free throw line...started five games, played in all 12.

  • Quality guard play - UW is very deep at the guard position. Allen, Conroy, and Robinson

  • Athleticism - The Huskies have extremely good athletes at every position; they are one of the most athletic teams in the conference.

Concerns

  • Experience - Only two players (Allen and Conroy) on the roster have two full seasons of Division I ball under their belt

Philip Ricci had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the balanced Beavers (9-7, 2-5 Pacific-10), who had six players in double figures. David Lucas posted career highs with 14 points and eight rebounds in Oregon State's 80-72 victory over Washington Thursday night.  The Beavers out rebounded the Huskies 38-24, and it helped them top Washington for the seventh time in the teams' last eight meetings. Recap

Luke Jackson scored 24 points and reserve guard James Davis added 19 off the bench to spark Oregon to a 84-74 victory against Washington on Thursday.

Davis connected on 5-of-6 3-pointers, including four during a three-minute stretch of the first half that brought the Ducks back from their only deficit of the game...Oregon defeats Washingon 84-72
