in Corvallis...
Amit Tamir scored 27 points, including 7-of-11 on 3-pointers, as California
defeated Oregon State 84-71 Thursday. Joe Shipp added 18 points -- 12 in the
second half -- and nine rebounds for the Golden Bears. Recap | Pictures

Joe Shipp scored a career-high 35 points as California defeated Oregon State
for the ninth straight time, 78-73 Saturday night. Against the Pac-10 conference's
top-ranked defense, Shipp made 12-of-16 shots, including 4-for-5 on 3-pointers.
Cal scored just once in the first 3:42, but then went on a 13-0 run capped by
consecutive 3-pointers by Brian Wethers, Amit Tamir and Shipp, giving the Bears
a 15-6 lead with 12:15 left in the first half. Recap

No more Arizona. Stanford's gone, too. That leaves California as the highest
seeded team remaining in the Pac-10 Conference tournament after the upset-filled
first round.
Richard Midgley scored 12 points and Brian Wethers added 11 Thursday night as

Luke Jackson scored 17 points and Ian Crosswhite had 16 as Oregon held off
California 68-56 on Thursday. Jackson scored six of his points in
the final three minutes, after the Golden Bears had trimmed a 23-point deficit

- Oregon State has not won in the series since a 46-43 victory March 5, 1998
at the New Arena in Oakland.
- Cal has an eleven game winning streak over the Beavers, their longest since
the Bears and Beavers have been playing each other.
- The Bears have made five straight post season appearances. Two in the NIT
and three in the NCAA tournament.
- The last time the Bears did play in the NIT or NCAA tournament was during
the 1997-98 season when they went 12-15 overall and 8-10 in Pac-10 play.
- California won the 1999 NIT title after going 22-11 during the season.

Norz's Humble Prediction
Despite riding a four-game losing streak, OSU will put together a solid
performance in front of the hometown crowd and send Cal back to California 0-2
from the Beaver State Beavers by 12.
