Last Time the Sundevils Played
Oregon State...
in Corvallis...
After only one conference game, the signs of progress are obvious for the Arizona
State men's basketball program. Two years ago, the Sun Devils started the Pac-10
season with seven straight losses en route to a 13-16 record. Last year, they
dropped back-to-back road games to the Oregon schools, but managed to finish
the season .500 and later earned a National Invitation Tournament berth. Recap
in Tempe...
Ike Diogu had 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Stevie Moore and Jamal Hill made
crucial free throws near the end to lift Arizona State to an 83-79 win over
Oregon State on Saturday night. Hill had 17 points in the victory, only
the Sun Devils' second in eight games. Keith Wooden and Jason Braxton had 12
apiece for Arizona State (8-8, 2-5 Pac-10), which won its sixth straight against
the Beavers in Tempe...Beavers
turned away in Tempe, 83-79

News from the Latest Sundevil Game
Southern California squandered a 12-point, second-half deficit, but Desmon
Farmer picked up the slack in overtime and the Trojans hung to beat Arizona
State 93-84 on Saturday night.
Farmer scored 10 of his 25 points in the extra period, negating the loss of
Errick Craven, who tallied a season-high 26 points before fouling out in the
first minute of overtime...Sun
Devils Fall to USC in Overtime
- Arizona State will play just two home games in the next 32 days.
- ASU has used ten starting lineups with ten players getting starts through
22 games.
- Arizona State has won nine of the past ten contests between OSU and ASU.
- The last time ASU went to the NCAA tournament was during the 1994-95 season
when they went 24-9 overall and 12-6 in conference play.
- Before coming to Arizona State, head coach Rob Evans, coached at the University
of Mississippi where he lead the Rebels to two NCAA appearances. In 1998 he
was named SEC Coach of the Year.
Norz's Humble Prediction
Oregon State needs this game in a major way. Lucas will have another
big game and if the Pac-10 officials don't give Diogu star treatment, OSU will
come away with the "W." Beavers by five.
