Tournament News
from osubeavers.com
Oregon State enters Saturday’s game controlling its own destiny
for inclusion in the eight-team Pac-10 Conference Tournament March 11-13 at
the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Beavers and Washington State are tied
for eighth with 6-11 records heading into the final game of the season Saturday.
The Beavers would earn the tiebreaker edge since they defeated
WSU twice this season. OSU would be left out of the tournament only if it
loses to USC Saturday and WSU wins at home over California. The Beavers will
know exactly what they have to do by tipoff, as Cal at WSU tip at 2 p.m. The
Beavers could actually finish tied for sixth.

Team Preview
-
Defending the key - Third in the conference in
blocked shots swatting away an averaging of 3.3 per game.
-
Active hands - Errick Craven leads the
conference in steals and so do the Trojans grabbing 8.9 a game.
-
Crashing the boards - USC grabs an average of
12.6 offensive rebounds a game giving them many second chance
opportunities.
Concerns
- Defense - Last in the conference in scoring defense giving up 79.5
points per game, also last in field goal percentage defense letting their
opponents shoot .464 from the field.. The Trojans are also last in
scoring margin with a -3.7 mark.
- Free throws - As a team they shoot just .668 from the line, eighth
in the conference. Only four players on the roster shoot over .700 from
the line.
- The long ball - Despite having talented, athletic guards who can
score, the majority of USC's roster can't shoot from three-point range.
