MONDAY

• Former UNLV quarterback Scott Turner has joined the OSU football staff as a graduate assistant coach.

TUESDAY

• Over the past school year, the mass of an expanded Reser Stadium has come to dominate what qualifies as the Corvallis skyline.
  
  John Norton, the project's administrator, says the $80 million endeavor will be "football ready" and open for the start of football season when the Beavers face off against Portland State on Sept. 3...more from the Barometer.
   
• Defensive end Bill Swancutt was named co-Male Athlete of the Year at the Bennys.
   
• The Joe Beaver radio show announced that Matt Moore is the first string quarterback.
  
   

WEDNESDAY

• Cal's kicker Tom Schneider was asked what stadium he likes to kick in the most and he said Washington and Oregon State.  Why?  "Oregon State is intense because the locker room's in a different building from the field. Plus, the field is up against the stands and the fans are right on top of you."  (As a fan it gets me pumped up hearing that.)
   
• The Pacific-10 Conference is finally playing with a full deck.
  
  All 10 schools - imagine that - will be invited to play in the league's Los Angeles basketball tournament next March...more from the Tucson Citizen.

• From RavensInsider.com:  "Rookie quarterback Derek Anderson is trying to catch up after missing two minicamps because his Oregon State class hadn’t graduated yet. 'He’s lost right now,' Billick said of Anderson, who’s competing with undrafted rookie Darian Durant to be the third quarterback
   
• From CollegeFootballNews.com:  "Mike Hass, Oregon State – To the eye, Hass never strikes fear in the hearts of opposing cornerbacks. Yet, check back after any game, and he likely demoralized a defense with his crisp routes, reliable hands and clutch receptions. Hass adjusts well to deep balls and just doesn’t make mistakes, which compensates for any athletic shortcomings."
  
   

FRIDAY

• Forward David Lucas participated in Chicago's pre-NBA Draft camp this week.
   
• Forward Kyle Jeffers was arrested last week on suspicion of public consumption of alcohol, resisting arrest, and minor in possession of alcohol.   Jeffers is the first known OSU athlete to be arrested after the announcement of the new code of conduct.  Under the new rules Jeffers would be suspended at least one game and be required to take an alcohol awareness class in addition to counseling for a minor in possession...more from the Gazette Times.
