Series history (Stanford leads 46-22-3, Stanford leads 16-10-1 in Corvallis)...
Oregon State has won the last four meetings, including the last two in Reser,
and six of the last eight. In the last four years the Beavers have won by an
average of 21 points outscoring the Cardinal 136-49. In the last two games the
Beavers have outscored Stanford 81-9. In those two games Stanford has combined
for minus-11 yards rushing (quarterback sack yardage counts in net rushing).
OSU has won the last two meetings in Corvallis, 38-6 in 2000 and 43-3 in 2003.
Stanford's last victory at Reser Stadium was a 27-24 decision in 1997.
Final game for seniors.
Thirteen seniors and one junior (athletic wise) will be making their final appearance
at Reser Stadium Saturday. The roster includes Sir Henry Anderson (DT), Nick Bodeman (WR), Trent Bray (LB), Darrick Bruns (LS), Keith Ellison (LB), Dan Haines
(TE), Derek Hall (DL), Mike Hass (WR), Josh Hawkins (WR), Sam Paulescu (P),
Alvin Smith (DT), Kevin Swanigan (WR), Jeremy Weldon (DE) and Colt Charles (QB/H).
Charles is forgoing his final year of eligibility and will enter graduate school.
These players have combined 4,733 receiving yards, 26 touchdowns and 574 tackles.
Bray, Hass and Weldon have an opportunity to be the first seniors in OSU history
to play in four bowl games.
Postseason up for grabs.
Stanford needs win two of its three final games to reach six wins and become
bowl eligible. The Beavers need to win one of its last two games to reach six
wins and become eligible for the postseason.
Stout run defense and a record setting offense.
Oregon State enters Saturday’s game first in the PAC-10 and 18th in the
nation for rush defense allowing 108.9 yards per game. Stanford, after playing
the second best rush defense last week in USC, enters the week ninth in the
PAC-10 for rushing offense at 117.8. OSU’s last two opponents (UA, UW)
have combined for 68 yards on the ground.
Oregon State is fifth in the PAC-10 and 23rd in the nation for total offense
per game at 444.4. For the year OSU has 4,000 yards in total offense, which
already ranks 10th all-time in school history. The team is on pace to gain 4,888
yards, which would be the most ever for an 11-game schedule.

- Owns eight of OSU’s top-15 single game receiving yards marks.
- Ranks 17th in NCAA history for yards with 3,677.
Stanford playing strong in the fourth.
The Cardinal led Navy 41-38 when the Midshipmen took over with 1:47 to play
and a chance to win the game. But, the Cardinal defense forced a sack and two
incomplete passes before taking over on downs. Against WSU, the Cardinal again
led by three points when the Cougars took over with 1:01 left in the game. An
interception by Nick Sanchez gave the Cardinal the win. Against Arizona, the
Wildcats trailed 20-14 with 3:53 and the ball at midfield, but a Brandon Harrison
interception ended UA's threat.
Additional notes.
- The Cardinal are 3-1 on the road this year with their only loss at No. 1
USC.
- According to the NCAA the Cardinal has the second toughest schedule in the
nation.
- QB Trent Edwards has thrown just five interceptions.
- If OSU ends the regular season with a winning record it would be the longest
streak since it had five straight winning campaigns between 1966-70.
- PK Alexis Serna broke the school record of field goals made in one season
with 22. He needs just seven more to tie the PAC-10 record of 29 set by UCLA
in 1984.
- P Sam Paulescu has kicked 19 punts inside the twenty, the most in the conference.
- LB Trent Bray leads the PAC-10 in tackles at 9.9 per game.
- LB Keith Ellsion leads the conference in tackles for loss with 14.5.
- Since 1999, the Beavers are 10-1 at home and 15-5 overall in November.
- Mike Riley is 24-5 when his team leads after three quarters.
- The orange and black offensive line has allowed just five sacks in the last
four games after giving up 20 in the first three.
- OSU is averaging 161 yards per game rushing over the last six outings, compared
to 67.3 over the first three. The team has improved from 105th in the nation
as of Oct. 10 to 78th as of Nov. 7.
- The Beavs have given up 53 plays for 25 yards or more this year.
