SACK MACHINE Alex Fa'agai holds an Oregon State offer and will take an official visit to Corvallis…
BEAVERS LAND VERBAL NO. 14
Fa'agai (6-4, 265) chose OSU over Kentucky (offer), Arizona, Boise State, WSU and UNLV and others.
The sack machine said the chance to play in the Pac-10 and be a little closer to home were key factors in his decision to ring up the OSU coaches and tell them he was coming.
"I called coach Newhouse and coach Langsdorf," said Fa'agai. "They were excited."
Fa'agai will trip to Oregon State Dec. 2 on his official visit. He's cancelled his planned visit to Kentucky that was scheduled for Dec. 16.
ON PACE TO graduate from Foothill this year, Fa'agai will be eligible to sign with the Beavs as soon as December 21, a huge plus as he'll enroll in January and be able to participate in spring ball.
Moving up and down the line this season at defensive end and tackle, Fa'agai racked up 10 sacks and appx. 50 tackles through seven games before spraining his MCL. Rehab is going great and he should be 100 percent in a few weeks time.
"I'm ready to be a Beaver," said Fa'agai. "Go Beavers!"
Fa'agai becomes the 14th** known verbal commitment in the OSU class of 2006, joining P/K Kyle Loomis, TE John Reese, DE Keith Robertson, TE/HB/WR Joe Halahuni OL Mau Nomani, DE Dorian Smith, DT Joel White-Frisbee, OL/DL Alex Linnenkohl, DT Mitchel Hunt, TE Howard Croom, WR Casey Kjos, LB Alfred Rowe and OL Ryan Pohl.
**Oregon State also has a soft verbal in S/WR James Dockery.
The mid year JC transfer signing date period runs from December 21, 2005 through January 15, 2006. For JUCO players who graduate in the spring, the signing period is the same as for prep seniors -- February 1, 2006 through April 1, 2006.
Over his prep career at Independence High, Fa'agai was named his league's Most Valuable Defensive Player his senior season. A team captain, he also earned first team all league honors. His junior and sophomore years, Fa'agai was also an all league selection.
