"The Beast" enters homestretch, eyes OSU

LINEBACKER U is expected to close on a few more 'backers before it's all said and done on February 1. One Oregon State target is Derrell Acrey, a Redlands Calif., tackling machine who already goes 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds. The Redlands East Valley High team captain will be tripping to Corvallis later this recruiting season but first, there's a championship to chase.

Acrey holds offers from Oregon State, Boise State, UTEP, Wyoming and San Jose State. His official visit to Corvallis is scheduled for Jan. 13, but he might try and move that up. A planned visit to Boise State this weekend probably will not take place with the REV playoff game slated for Friday. An official trip to UTEP has been rescheduled for Dec. 2 -- with the Miners coaches saying the Nov....
