At 2 p.m. catch Mike Riley at OregonLive.com
or on 1240 AM in the mid-Willamette Valley as he discusses his 2006 recruiting
class.
Recent commitments from Gerard Lee, Dwight Roberson and Gabe Miller have pushed
Oregon State's current recruiting ranking to within shouting distance of the
top 25.
As of Monday night, the Beavers were ranked as having the No. 39 recruiting
class in the country. In the last two years the Beavers have finished just outside
of the top 50 twice at No. 51 in 2005 and No. 56 in 2003, a class recruited
by Dennis Erickson and patched together by Riley. A No. 34 ranking in 2004 is
OSU's best ranking since Riley started his second stint in Corvallis.
One of the top linebacking classes in the nation at No. 14 solidifies Oregon State's
claim to the West Coast version of Linebacker U.
The perfunctory discussion about the star system has been exasperated and
for those that don't put too much stock in the rankings, the findings of a four
year analysis by The
Birmingham News that was published on Sunday morning suggests that there
is a connection with the recruiting rankings and the Associated Press Top 25.
