Oregon State fullback Bill Enyart and defensive tackle Jess Lewis are two of 77 players on the 2006 Division I-A Ballot of induction into the
College Football Hall of Fame.
Enyart was a first team All-American in 1968 and a two time All-Conference
selection (1967-68). Lewis was an All-American in 1967 and also a two time
All-Conference selection. Both played in numerous all-star contests.
The Hall of Fame Class will be announced on May 16.
Robert W. Riggett, a four-year letterman and captain of the 1942 Rose Bowl
team, was given the Martin Chaves Lifetime Achievement Award.
"Bob has been working up a sweat for OSU athletics since he was a football
letterman," said OSU athletic director Bob De Carolis of Riggert. "Now his
efforts take the form of volunteering and serving on the BASF and Alumni
Association boards. He has been a major player in supplying much needed
furniture to the department and the raising of Reser Stadium. His devotion to
and love for the Beavers is emblematic of this award." ...

Former quarterback Terry Baker was selected to the National High School
Hall of Fame.
Baker, of course, won the Heisman Trophy in 1962 and is still the only
college athlete to win the Heisman Trophy and play in the Final Four. He
will be inducted on June 29 in Orlando, Fla.
Former receiver James Newson will be lacing up his shoes on
April 29 as a wide receiver and linebacker for Arena Football 2's Stockton
Lightning in its inaugural game.
"He's a hell of player," Lightning coach Richard Davis said. "He had a big
time college football career. Obviously, he brings a pedigree to the sport that
I'm counting on. James is full of potential and now we have to find out if he
can turn that potential into production." ...

Former walk-on receiver Nick Bodeman is a frontrunner for a starting receiver
position at Montana State University-Northern.
Former receiver and defensive back Jack Gotta was part of the
Ironwood Area Sports
Hall of Fame Council's inaugural induction class.
Gotta tried out with the Cleveland Browns before moving to the CFL where he
played and coached.
Former quarterback Derek Anderson threw passes to Mike Hass and Josh Hawkins during Oregon State's Pro Day.
Anderson is currently with the Cleveland Browns and is third on the depth

Doug Sams, who graduated from OSU in 1978 and severed as the Beavers'
defensive line coach in the same year, was named Stanford's offensive line
coach.
There are four Beavers on NFL Europe rosters. Defensive tackle James Lee with the Admirals, cornerback Aric Williams and linebacker
Jonathan Pollard with the Centurions and Mitch Meeuwsen with the
Rhein Fire.
Meeuwsen forced and recovered a fumble while Pollard intercepted a pass in
week one. In week two Meeuwsen recorded three tackles and one sack while
Pollard forced a fumble.
