Zach Hagemeister, a 6-3, 228 pound tight end from Lebanon (Ore.) Lebanon Union has committed to Oregon State. Hagemeister had a huge showing at the Nike Camp in Eugene and is one of the best players at his position on the West Coast.
"I committed yesterday," Hagemeister said. "It's not something I was planning on doing but when they offered me at the end of the camp, I jumped on it. I wanted to stay close to home all along and play in the Pac 10 so Oregon State and Oregon were the two schools I was seriously considering. "I love the coaching staff at Oregon State, especially Coach Erickson and when the opportunity to commit early came up, I knew it was what I wanted to do. Now I can just focus on football and don't have to worry about recruiting any more. I'm very excited about this."
Hagemeister was very impressive at the Nike Camp in Eugene running a blazing 4.58 in the 40, 4.24 in the shuttle and jumped 32 inches in the vertical. All three are some of the best testing numbers we've seen by a tight end at any Nike Camp this year.
"I think my speed and explosiveness are my best attributes as a football player," Hagemeister said. "I work a lot on it so I was happy to have done so well and I'm hoping to improve on my numbers from last year. I think I had around 25-30 catches for 350 yards and five touchdowns."
Academically, Hagemeister is carrying a 2.9 GPA and will take the SAT at a later date.
