Chris Johnson of Grossmont College in California has signed a Financial
Aid agreement and is expected to join the Oregon State University
football team for the start of practice Aug. 4, head coach Mike Riley
announced.
The 6-1 180-pound wide receiver will enter the program with three years
of eligibility remaining. He made 15 receptions for 312 yards and four
touchdowns in seven games last season at Grossmont, helping the team to

Perry hoping to build Oregon State
pipeline
Corvallis, Ore., is a tightly knit community where businesses and
supporters proudly hang signs such as "Beaver Nation," kick-starting the
hype surrounding an Oregon State football team whose season is months
away.
Jeremy Perry, a Kahuku High School alum who was Pac-10 co-Freshman of
the Year last year, is all too familiar about the hype as he enters his
third season with the Beavers ...

PAC 10 upsets? Leave it to Beavers
Last month, Oregon State finally won a national championship -- in
baseball. Will the rising tide lift all Beavers?
Maybe, although it would be a stretch to call Mike Riley's OSU football
team a contender for a BCS championship. Still, the Oregon State Beavers
have an intriguing team, and they have four of their toughest PAC 10
opponents -- Cal, USC, Arizona State and Oregon -- at home ...

Chatting with Saints Receiver Mike Hass
This week it was the pleasure of the Super Saints Weekly to speak with
Saints rookie receiver Mike Hass. Hass was selected on the second day of
the draft by the Saints in the 6th round. A wide receiver out of Oregon
State, Mike Hass is 6 ‘1’ 208 lbs, but has proven on the field in
college that his play is truly unmeasurable. While Mike found amazing
success in college, going from a walk-on to being a vital part of his
team’s offensive success, he has managed to keep a confident, yet humble
approach and a workman like attitude when it comes to football ...

Running back Coleman to transfer from
UNLV; possibly to Oregon State
UNLV pulled off a recruiting coup in February 2005, finally convincing a
local football player to stay in town rather than rush off elsewhere.
Torrie Coleman from Cheyenne High was more than just a local player,
however. He was one of the top signees in coach Mike Sanford's first
recruiting class, a running back with the potential to elevate the
Rebels ...

COMMITMENT: Long journey home for Cole
If Michael Cole had verbally committed to Oregon State out of high
school, he probably would have had to pinch himself, for surely he had
just had a nightmare. It just wasn't going to happen. But Cole has gone
through a lot since those days as a Lake Oswego Laker, and now a verbal
commitment to the OSU Beavers feels as good as a trip back home ..

Beavers' Wallace carres on family
tradition
Before the biggest baseball game of his life, Oregon State freshman John Wallace sat in the dugout and sent his mom a text message on her cell
phone.
The Beavers stood on the brink of elimination against North Carolina in
the College World Series last month. Wallace casually zipped "Happy
Birthday" to Vicki Wallace's seat in the stands at Rosenblatt Stadium in
Omaha, Neb ... more from

Casey gives OSU a chance to define itself
The crisis involving (please circle only one of the following) Oregon
State/Notre Dame baseball coach Pat Casey continued Thursday.
What we know is that Casey interviewed for the Fighting Irish baseball
head coaching job Wednesday. And Thursday, Beavers athletic director Bob
De Carolis interviewed for the job of continuing to be Casey's boss.
Then, pretty much everyone in Corvallis lit candles and said prayers ...

John has program where he wants it
Jay John is starting to feel at home.
Speaking to a crowd of about 30 enthusiastic fans at the rejuvenated
Albany Beaver Huddle Tuesday at Pop’s Branding Iron Restaurant, the
Oregon State men’s basketball coach said his program is just now where
he was hoping it would have been when he arrived.
“The infrastructure was unsettled when I arrived but now it’s where I
wanted it to be when I first got here,” John said. “Our staff is
approaching it as if we just got hired." ...

Is Mike Riley greater than Pat Casey?
Who is more valuable to Oregon State, Mike Riley or Pat Casey? Pat Casey
might be the obvious answer, which begs the question: Why is Pat Casey
paid nearly one-eighth the salary of an unproven football coach?
Even the gods of common sense, reason and
logic don’t understand why. Speaking of which, someone in the front
office should lob a phone call to Spock about Casey’s salary. Maybe he
can show the logic behind Pat Casey getting a meager $100,000 a year.
Even Chris Coffin thinks Casey is getting screwed ...
