The Wiseguy Weekly - Bleeda likes the Bruins

Resident Wiseguy
Posted Sep 21, 2006

BeavaBleeda went 2-1 last week pocketing $900. He stands at 4-4 on the year and the bankroll now stands at $7890. Guest handicapper BeaverBobe went 1-2 and is on a temporary leave of absence in Fresno managing the Grandma’s chapter down there.

Beaverfootball.com's Resident Wiseguy now is in need of some new guest wiseguy prognosticators. It’s a simple gig. You get to go one on one with me for a week. Pick three games with the point spread and do short write-ups on each. Contact my secretary at beavableeda@beaverfootball.com and an interview will be set up to make sure you meet the necessary requirements. Minimum qualifications include basic knowledge of college football, humorous writing, and hatred of the University of Zero.

This week I’m going to just release one game. It’s a tough week out there. The big board shows a lot of big point spreads and home dogs that I just don’t want to touch. One game does jump out at me and I’m going to load up a big play on it. UCLA -3 @ UW. I’m investing $2200 to win $2000 on the Bruins. Remember, when you lay big plays like this we call it high risk investments not gambling. As your investments consultant I highly advise that you load up on this game and I will tell you why.

The 2-0 UCLA Bruins are rested coming off a bye week. This week’s game marks the fifth time since 1997 that the Bruins have played Washington after a week off when the Huskies didn’t have a bye. UCLA won all of those games. They beat the #13 Huskies in 1997, the #23 Huskies in 1999 in overtime and the 10th ranked squad in 2001. And it happened again last season with a 21-17 win. This year these kids from Seattle are far from ranked and the Bruins will be cracking the top 25 after they take care of them Saturday afternoon. They have won eight of the past nine in the series.

UCLA running back Chris Markey leads the conference in yards per carry at 7.5. I expect him to open up the passing game for quarterback Ben Olson, who has also looked good early this season. The UW secondary is banged up and inexperienced, expect them to get shredded. I’m not sold on the Huskies resurgence yet. The play is UCLA and I don’t see shades of grey.

On a side note, the handicappers have Oregon State now as a 23.5 point favorite over the Idaho Vandals. Did Danny Sheridan watch the Boise State game? Well, I guess reality tells me the Beavs should bounce back after the bye week in the comforts of Reser playing a lousy Erickson lead team. But, I don’t want to run the risk of losing a grip of money betting on my Beavs again. So I’m just going to kick back, smoke some cigars at the tailgate, sneak in my friend Jack to the game, and watch DE wish he never left.

BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED IT!!!!!
