The truth is out there

Saturday’s game wasn’t exactly a masterpiece of competitive football. The fur is flying in the media and on message boards everywhere. As usually happens with data overload, there have been a few erroneous reports of what really happened in Reser Stadium on Saturday. It is a good thing that you all have me to set things straight. Yes it’s true...

Yes it’s true…
The weather was once again perfecto. Next Saturday is supposed to be nice too!!!

Yes it’s true…
Many people in the crowd pointed to the pre game parachute jumpers as the highlight of the entire afternoon. Some people thought it would have been a much better highlight if the first guy had “accidentally” taken out Nathan Longshore during his landing.

Yes it’s true…
The crowd was pumped up and loud - even after the first Cal score - and the first Beaver turnover – and even after the score on the long drive after the first turnover. Things got a little quieter after the third Cal score and then would get a little bit quieter after each Cal drive/score. But, the crowd would rev up anytime the Beavers gave them a reason to rev up. Unfortunately…

Yes it’s true…
Alexis Serna’s 58 yard field goal had plenty of room to spare; it would have been good from 65 yards.

Yes it’s true…
The crowd was chanting for Alexis to try another kick on the Beavers’ opening drive of the second half, when the Beavers had the ball on their own 40.

Yes it’s true…
There truly is no need to point fingers of blame at the offense, or the defense, or the coaching staff. This was an equal opportunity butt-whuppin.

Yes it’s true…
Instead of showing plays from the game, the Jumbotron ouch cam showed a picture of the scoreboard.

Yes it’s true…
The seats on the east side of Reser were 1/3 full (maybe) after halftime.

Yes it’s true…
The Beavers should watch tapes of the Nebraska versus Kansas game to see what a team CAN do after a bad half of football.

Yes it’s true…
There was more than one mention from the stands concerning Mike Riley. As a matter of fact there was more than one sign, and one very big bright orange fluorescent sign, concerning the coach.

Yes it’s true…
There was more than one mention from the stands concerning/comparing/contrasting Sean Canfield and Matt Moore.

Yes it’s true…
Once again the Beavers are at a pivotal point of a season. This is a long season and things can get turned around. Think back two years ago after the loss to Cal.

Yes it’s true…
I’ll be there this coming Saturday ready to tailgate, ready to cheer on the Beavers until my throat feels like I gargled broken glass. See you there.
