That was absolutely the most jacked up, pre-game, non-PAC10-game crowd I have
ever seen in Corvallis. Next week, it will be the second most jacked
up, pre-game, non-PAC10-game crowd I have ever seen in Corvallis.
Bang sticks are great noisemakers and…great entertainment for kids
who get tired of watching the game after mid-third quarter. Kids
can use them for sword fighting, torturing siblings, batting around
peanut hulls, and every now and then for cheering. I was watching
one little boy banging his sticks together non-stop for about 5
minutes. His mom suddenly turned to him, shot laser beams with her
eyes, and said, "ENOUGH!"
Many players stayed around a long time after the game. They signed
autographs, posed for pictures, and handed out their dirty sweaty
disgusting wrist bands/head bands/elbow guards to any kids who asked
for them.

Is it me, or does it seem like a team should change its defense
when it allows three touchdowns in one quarter? The UNLV defensive
scheme had less of chance of stopping the Beavers than the
NOW does scheduling its next convention at the clubhouse at
Augusta National.
Let's figure out a way to keep Richard Seigler agitated at
the opposition. Perhaps we can keep him agitated with this
note from a well-known football fan. "Dear Richard, Not only
did UNLV not recruit you, all of the rest of the teams you
will play in your college career did not recruit you. I promise."

I sure like those little passes in the flat to Steven Jackson.
It's kind of like running a sweep without running a sweep
and it gives Steven the chance to avoid or run over (his choice)
1 to 3 defensive backs.

Rodney
Landingham sporting those nice orange shoes. |
It was good to see the two quarterback keepers. There was good
blocking on both plays and good reads by Derek Anderson. Notice
I say quarterback keepers. I have never understood why that play
is sometimes called a quarterback sneak. There is nothing sneaky
about the play; it's just hike the ball and shove.
The post-game interview with Dennis Erickson was a classic. I think
that Coach Erickson and the team are looking forward to next week's
game even more than the Oregon Legislature is looking forward to
their next session (if that's possible).
No article about the UNLV game would be complete without mentioning
Rodney Landingham's shoes. Ooh, those orange shoes!
Join my family and I at next week's game. Let's be loud, very loud.
Let's show Fresno State players, coaches, and fans that we know
how to win, and know how to win with class.
