Bernard rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and caught eight passes for
53 yards in Oregon State’s 31-28 upset of No. 2 California at Berkeley
last Saturday. His 1-yard touchdown lunge in the final quarter on fourth-and-goal
put the Beavers ahead to stay as the team improved to 4-3 for the season.
Bernard now has 3,400 career rushing yards, third at OSU all-time and 14th
in Pac-10 history. He needs 225 yards to catch former Beaver Steven Jackson,
who is 10th all-time in the conference. Bernard in on pace to finish the regular
season with 1,289 rushing yards which would give him the sixth-highest overall
total in league history with 3,937.
This is the first time this year an Oregon State player and the first time
in Bernard's career that he has been named a conference Player of the Week.
Linebacker Alan Darlin and kicker/punter Alexis Serna were also nominated for
the honor on defense and special teams, respectively.
