Capsule Preview: Oregon State vs. Arizona

THE ODDSMAKERS DON'T THINK Oregon State will put up much of a fight on Wednesday night when the Beavs face off against Arizona in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tournament -- OSU is an 18-point underdog. Indeed, Oregon State has been in freefall and Arizona cruised in both meetings. Marcel Jones, however, says the Beavs may just surprise the Wildcats.
The records:
Oregon State (6-24, 0-18) vs. Oregon (18-13, 8-10).
Last time:
Six days ago, Arizona dominated OSU to the tune of an 81-45 score in Corvallis.
At stake:
Arizona is a solid team and the fact they're a No. 7 seed and fighting for their NCAA Tournament lives is a testament to just how good the Pac-10 is this year. Should OSU pull off a shocker, Arizona would almost certainly have no chance at a Big Dance invite so figure UA to come out motivated. Oregon State has suffered through a nightmarish year on the hardcourt and it would be a tremendous upset if the Beavers were to somehow pull a rabbit out of their hat. To do so, they'll have to do things they haven't done well all year, starting with shooting the ball and playing team defense.
Quotable:
"The post guys have to come to play, and it's got to be a group effort," says
Marcel Jones
in the Oregonian. "One person is not going to get it done..We have to come out very aggressive."
The series:
Arizona leads 48-17, including 2-0 at neutral sites.
TV:
FSN, 8:30 pm PT.
High Definition broadcast?:
Yes, FSN-HD
Radio:
Beaver Sports Radio Network
The line:
UA by 18.
