OREGON STATE COMPLETED a three game sweep of Pacific, winning the regular season finale 2-0 on Sunday. The Beavs finish the baseball year with a 28-24 mark and will now wait until Monday morning, when ESPN will announce the NCAA Tournament field at 9:30 a.m. PT. Meanwhile, OSU coach Pat Casey's comments after the game indicated he might be done at OSU.

Oregon State's postseason chances were seemingly dimmed when Washington and USC each fought off being swept to salvage the final game of their series and season enders against Stanford and WSU, respectively.

Oregon State, UW and USC now all finish in a tie for sixth place in the Pac-10.

Some think the selection committee will take six teams out of the Pac-10 because of the competitiveness of the league this year.

Oregon State is the two time defending NCAA champion. Last year, Oregon State was on the bubble of making the field but once they did, got hot and rolled all the way to and through Omaha.

Coach Pat Casey sounded like a man with a foot out the door in a Sunday Gazette Times article.

“Our stadium is going to be the best in the conference,” Casey said. “Our crowds are the best in the country. We won two national championships and went to the College World Series three times in a row. We have the No. 3 recruiting class coming in. So, this is going to be a great, great program for a long, long time no matter who does it. I’m proud of that.”

Casey said he’s physically and mentally drained, and wants to be with his family more. And he also said it might be time to try something different.

“And sometimes you need new challenges,” Casey said. “Everybody knows that there are a lot of openings around the country, and I’ve been called a lot about them.”
