NEWS ROUNDUP: Quizz watch
JACQUIZZ RODGERS
By

THERE'S SOME ANGST around cyberspace that Jacquizz Rodgers might be doubtful for the Sun Bowl, nearly three weeks away. But Mike Riley was in El Paso yesterday and a video clip featuring the OSU head man in the El Paso Times has Riley, while far from definitive, saying he's "hopeful" Quizz will be ready to play -- And he also says it will not be decided, one way or the other, for quite some time.
Mike Riley
on Thursday,
in the video clip from the El Paso Times on
Jacquizz Rodgers
plus a number of other subjects.
Or, you can watch it here:
In the clip, says Riley of Quizz; "I think Quizz is feeling better every day. Now that part of it is only one part, the other part will be the X-Rays, and all (the rest) that they would have to give him the go-ahead on. This will not be decided in a week. It will be a process that takes us pretty close to the game."
*Note that after the six-plus Riley video ends, Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt speaks.

Sun Bowl attracts lots of locals but turnout worries persist -- despite 'Top 25' match-up
NOTABLE:
The Beavs are scheduled to travel on Christmas Day to El Paso and will will begin their workouts Dec. 26 at Canutillo High. In case you're wondering, yes, it's the same place they practiced prior to the 2006 Sun Bowl.
And just what would it be like if there was a
College Football Madness
? In the world according to sportsline.com, with a nod towards the NCAA Basketball Tourney, the Beavs would be a No. 7 seed out West who would play Fresno State in their first round game. Oregon State's second round opponent? The Ducks. Click to here for more.
