WHEN THE Pac-10 Media Poll for football comes out in late July, the Beavers are expected to be picked in the lower half of the ten. Again. One columnist says the prognosticators will, as they have in recent years, get it wrong. He also says to watch for a fast start this year. Plus, OSU basketball and baseball..

The potential No. 6 seed -- The Oregonian, Paul Buker
OSU hoops media relations guru Michael Collins tells me that if OSU beats the Trojans Saturday and the Huskies take care of Wazzu, then the Beavers are the No. 6 seed for the Pac-10 tourney... it would mean a 6 p.m. game next Thursday against the Pac-10 No. 3 seed, which looks to be .... Oh my ... the California Golden Bears. The same Golden Bears, under the direction of Mike Montgomery, who managed to get swept by OSU during the regular season.
