Future Beavs and Team USA roll France

KEVIN CUMMINGS, JORDAN POYER and the rest of Team USA cruised by France in the inaugural International Federation of American Football Junior World Championships. The final score was 78-0, and it wasn't that close.

Team USA emptied their bench early against France, Kevin Cummings ended the night with one catch for 13 yards while Jordan Poyer logged a punt return of 30 yards and one tackle.

The 45-member USA team next plays Japan on Wednesday.

Team USA jumped ahead on their first drive against and never punted in the game. They amassed 610 total yards on offense (405 rushing, 205 passing) while surrendering 49 -- add in the loss of 42 sack yards and France managed only seven total years on the game against the American's 3-3-5.

Team USA led 24-0 at the end of the first quarter and 37-0 at halftime.

"This was the first time in two weeks that I could actually turn to these guys and not say, 'Stop! Don't hit him,'" said coach Chuck Kyle. "I don't like it when games get like that (one-sided), but I don't know how I could've changed that from happening."

The Americans did commit more penalties than Kyle and his staff would have liked, however, with 11 flags thrown for 110 penalty yards.

Team USA hits the practice field Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. as preparations are already underway for Wednesday's 7 p.m. game against Mexico.

Mexico dispatched Team Sweden in first-round play earlier in the day, 41-0.
