SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS always have a high premium of value attached but with the '10 scholarship math, the Beavs are expected to sign less than a full class of 25, and they're even more invaluable this year. One position to keep an eye on for the '10 OSU class is running back, where the Beavs just offered a cat-quick prospect out of Mission Hills, Calif. -- Alemany High running back Malcolm Marable.

All-everything back Malcolm Marable (5-9, 170) has landed his first offer, and it came from the Pac-10.

"Malcolm was offered by Oregon State," said head coach Dean Herrington.

The Beavers are the first to offer the cat-quick Marable, who had a big junior season.

In 2008, Marable ran for 1,655 yards and 23 touchdowns, and added another touchdown through the air, helping the Warriors to the CIF-SS Semifinals.

Earlier this month, Alemany, led by Marable and quarterback Vernon Adams, defeated Culver City in the championship game of the Pierce College seven-on-seven passing tournament according to the L.A. Times.

Oregon State also has an offer out to Florida running back Gio Bernard, brother of BeaverGreat Yvenson Bernard.
