JORDAN POYER, KEVIN CUMMINGS and Team USA will play for the gold medal this weekend in the inaugural International Federation of American Football Junior World Championships. But interestingly, the Americans are not the favorite. The game is available both on TV and online.
Canada, the USA Team's opponent, is the No. 1 seed. The U.S. is seeded No. 2. The eight-team tournament also features France, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Sweden.

along with the rest of Team USA (2-0) will play Canada (2-0) at 10 a.m. on Sunday in the Gold Medal Game at Fawcett Stadium. The game will be televised live by Fox College Sports Atlantic and available on DirecTV channel 617.
For those without FCS Atlantic, the gold medal game will also be available online, streamed live on

Poyer, playing cornerback against Mexico, the second round opponent for Team USA in the tournament, had an interception return of 27 yards for a touchdown and a tackle in a 55-0 win in front of 11,218 fans in Canton, Ohio.
Cummings had one catch for seven yards in the win over Mexico. The receiver, in the opening round game, a 78-0 blanking of France, had one catch for 13 yards while Poyer logged a punt return of 30 yards and one tackle.
Team USA through two games is averaging 9.48 yards a play on offense while giving up 0.46 yards per snap on defense. Against Mexico, USA led 41-0 at halftime and held an advantage in total yards gained (262-2).
But Canada comes in undefeated as well. The Canadians blanked New Zealand 55-0 before being tested in a 38-35 win over Japan.
Poyer was the state of Oregon’s offensive and defensive 4A player of the year in '08, playing quarterback and safety at Astoria High where he had a hand in 123 touchdowns over three seasons. He also was a multi-year all-state selection in baseball. He'll arrive at Oregon State this summer as a safety.
Cummings, rated by Scout.com as one of the nation's Top 125 receivers, is from Culver City, Calif. and played receiver and defensive back during his prep career at Crespi High. A first-team All-Serra league at receiver as a senior, Cummings also was a sprinter on the track team. He'll come to Oregon State as a receiver.
Cummings and Poyer will be in Corvallis later this month to participate in OSU’s nationally recognized BEST Bridge Program for incoming student-athletes. Cummings is then expected to grayshirt and join the Beavs in January of 2010 according to Oregon State Sports Information while Poyer will start his Beaver career this season and take part in fall camp in August.
