LAST TIME
OREGON STATE AND USC PLAYED:
Sept. 25, 2008 (in Corvallis) - Oregon State 27, No. 1 USC 21
IT WAS A first half clinic. A beat down. An eardrum-busting anthem of
black and orange pride. Oregon State came out and punished the No. 1 team in
the land, dominating the battle in the trenches on both lines. But the second
half was a nerve-jangling roller coaster, with USC storming back and Beaver
Nation was on pins and needles until the very end.
It was a glorious
first half, and ended up as the defining game of the '08 college football season
to date. After USC came out of the locker room in the second half firing on
all cylinders, the Beavs did enough down the stretch to turn the tide and send
the Trojans packing on the short end of a 27-21 thriller ... more

LAST TIME
OREGON STATE AND USC PLAYED IN LOS ANGELES:
Nov. 3, 2007 - USC 24, Oregon State 3
Freshman Everson Griffen and his friends on the Southern California
defense made certain Oregon State never had a chance.
In a 24-3 victory
on Saturday, Griffen had 3 1/2 of USC's nine sacks, Oregon State was held to
176 yards of total offense, and the Trojans (No. 19 BCS, No. 13 AP) lived up
to their preseason hype for the first time since September ... more

LAST TIME
USC PLAYED:
Oct. 17, 2009 (in South Bend) - No. 8 USC 34, No. 25 Notre Dame
27
Just like 2005 when Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush
made history on their final drive in South Bend, the Trojans came up big in
the final seconds once again, keeping the Fighting Irish out of the end zone
and holding on to an exciting 34-27 victory.
“A few symptoms
of a heart attack,” is how USC linebacker Chris Galippo
described his feelings as Notre Dame was driving for what would have been a
game-tying touchdown Saturday night ... more

LAST TIME
OREGON STATE PLAYED:
Oct. 10, 2009 - Oregon State 38, Stanford 28
Stanford came in atop the Pac-10 conference and with pundits talking Heisman
campaign for Toby Gerhart. But sophomore running back Jacquizz
Rodgers doubled the offensive output of his senior counterpart in helping
deliver the fourth victory of the year for the Beavers. And though Quizz grabbed
the limelight, there was another compelling offensive storyline authored by
the Beavs.
It was the Quizz
show from the get-go and it opened to rave reviews. The sophomore racked up
over 100 rushing yards in the first quarter. His four rushing touchdowns tied
the record for most in a game by an Oregon State player ... more

SERIES
HISTORY (USC leads 58-10-4, 38-3-3 in
Los Angeles): The Trojans and Beavers have met 72 times since
1914 with USC holding a 58-10-4 advantage. USC leads the series 38-3-3 in Los
Angeles winning the last 21 meetings in California.
OSU's last victory
in the Coliseum was a 14-0 win in 1960.
Despite USC winning
31 of the last 34 meetings, the Beavers have won two of the last three and three
of the last eight. The win over USC in 2000 (33-31) snapped Troy's Pac-10 record
26 consecutive victories over the Beavers.
Last year’s
27-21 victory over the then No. 1 Trojans – marked the second time in
school history the Beavers have beaten a No. 1 team – also knocking off
the Trojans 3-0 in 1967 - both games in Corvallis.
USC has posted
17 shutouts in the series.

LAST
10 OSU/USC MATCHUPS:
OSU
HAS HAD CHANCES TO BREAK…: the streak at USC. In 2001 OSU placekicker
Ryan Cesca missed a 35-yard field goal (wide left) with 6:04
remaining and then missed a 29-yard boot (wide right) with 33 seconds remaining,
before USC won in overtime 16-13. Cesca hit a 29-yarder in the first OT, but
USC quarterback Carson Palmer answered with a 4-yard run to
end the game.
In 1999 the
Beavers committed four turnovers, but still had a chance down 37-29 when USC’s
Chad Morton fumbled late in the game at OSU’s 41-yard line; the
Beavers moved to the Trojan 31 before a fourth-down Terrance Bryant
pass went incomplete in the final seconds.
The Beavers
also had narrow losses in 1963 (28-22) and 1968 (17-13), but in both games the
score was closer than the actual game – the Beavers scored twice in the
final 90 seconds of each and failed to recover the following onside kick. The
Coliseum has also been the the locale for OSU’s worst loss ever, 63-0
in 1985.
