REPORT: Beav cited for boating DUI

OSU QUARTERBACK Peter Lalich in California on Friday was cited for a "Boating DUI," according to an Oregonian Duck fan's blog that cited a Shasta County Sheriff's log. This would be the third alcohol related incident in college for the junior quarterback. It also marked the third former and fourth current Beaver reported to have been in trouble with the law this offseason.

Peter Lalich, while at Virginia in 2008, previously admitted use of marijuana and alcohol while on supervised probation for an underage drinking charge, according to published reports out of Virginia.

Lalich transferred to OSU in September of 2008.

Lalich was listed as the No. 2 QB on the 2010 pre-spring depth chart, but with Mike Riley saying he was still competing for the starting job with Ryan Katz, the competition never materialized.

Riley did not name Katz the starter at spring's end but there was little doubt over the course of the spring based on performance that Katz was the clear No. 1. The main quarterback intrigue that developed this spring was between Lalich and Cody Vaz for the No. 2 spot, with Vaz appearing to hold the edge.

Lalich's reported citation on Friday would make three former and four current Beavers cited by police this offseason -- former CB Kaua Olds was cited for resisting arrest, interfering with a police officer and being a minor in possession of alcohol. DE John Braun was cited for hosting a party for minors. OL Tyler Thomas was cited for minor in possession of alcohol and using a fake ID. Lyle Moevao, Keaton Kristick and DT Brennan Olander were arraigned in court last week for stealing a golf chart. Olds, Moevao and Kristick are former Beaver players.
