WHAT IS A CONSENSUS ALL-AMERICAN: The NCAA compiles a consensus All-American list for its annual record book, using a point system to determine the best of the best from the major All-American teams, awarding three points for first-team selection, two for second-team and one for third-team. The major All-American selectors have changed over the years. The current group consists of the teams named by the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News and Walter Camp Foundation.
