Oregon State's recent success, specifically against USC in prime time, has resulted in more games on national television which exposes the Beavers to more recruits around the country. Athletes that normally don't know about Oregon State football now do and are interested in what playing in Corvallis has to offer. With that said the coaches still don't expend too many resources to scout outside of the West Coast as they rely on tips from colleagues and tape from recruits. A tip from a colleague got the coaches out to Texas where they scooped up James and Jacquizz Rodgers and they have pushed into Oklahoma, which borders Texas to the north, for several recruits in 2009. The coaches have also started to recruit in Canada in British Columbia. Non West Coasters have made a big impact in the program over the years and the staff does a great job of picking out the players that some of the larger programs miss. |
