WTS: Are Beavs perplexing, or as expected?

WTS: Are Beavs perplexing, or as expected?

ALL THE GOOD that was done in Oregon State's win the week before, the scribes say, was undone against the Huskies on Saturday night. Here's what they're saying ...

Lifeless Beavs two steps slow in 37-13 loss

Lifeless Beavs two steps slow in 37-13 loss

WITH EVERYTHING TO play for, Oregon State didn't show up. The Beavers looked a step slow all night against Washington in a 37-13 loss in Seattle that means they must win the Civil War to become bowl eligible.

HALFTIME: Beavs with a ray of hope, down 17-7

HALFTIME: Beavs with a ray of hope, down 17-7

IF THE BEAVS come back to win this game against Washington, everyone will remember third-and-25. After getting flat out whipped for virtually the entire first half, the Beavs found a small ray of hope headed into the locker room. Trailing 17-0 and facing third-and-25 from their own five-yard line, Sean Mannion tossed a bomb from the end zone to a streaking Victor Bolden for 72 yards.

Everything you need to know about the Huskies

WE WANTED TO know as much as possible about Oregon State’s next opponent – and who better to ask than Husky expert Chris Fetters, Editor of Dawgman.com. With bowl eligibility on the line Saturday for both Oregon State and UW (Pac-12 Networks, 7:30 p.m.) here’s a mountain of insight and info on all things Washington …

OSU faces former BeavGreat Smith on Saturday

THOSE IN HUSKYLAND may not be quite ready yet to move on from Washington's loss to Arizona this past Saturday. A recent headline from the local paper reads, "Chris Petersen’s first UW season: Prepare to be confused." One of the bigger fan lightning rods for criticism this 2014 campaign has been their offensive coordinator, former Beaver QB Jonathan Smith.

OSU NOTEBOOK: How to replace Terron Ward?

OSU NOTEBOOK: How to replace Terron Ward?

IF THE BEAVS have lost running back Terron Ward for the rest of the regular season, and possibly his OSU career, it’s a body blow for the Beavers on a number of fronts, Mike Riley said on Tuesday. Riley said it’s “very likely” Ward will miss the final two games, though it would seem it would take a near-miracle for him to return in time for the regular season finale just 11 days away.

Even rivals can agree on Pac-12 officiating

Even rivals can agree on Pac-12 officiating

WITH PAC-12 RIVALRY GAMES coming up, you will be hard-pressed to find much common ground between Beavers and Ducks, Cougars and Huskies, Trojans and Bruins, or Sun Devils and Wildcats. Unless of course the subject of Pac-12 officiating comes up.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE Jalen Grimble, injured since Week Four, practiced all last week but did not play in the win over Arizona State. Mike Riley said CB Steven Nelson, who was hurt as he made a crucial pass break up towards the end of the game on Saturday night, will be limited to start the practice week.

WTS: Beavs heat up the night with ASU shocker

WTS: Beavs heat up the night with ASU shocker

THERE WAS NO shortage of superlatives and laments after Oregon State mounted a stirring, second half comeback shocked No. 6 Arizona State 35-27. Here's what scribes near and far are saying ...

OSU 35, ASU 27: Where did that come from?

OSU 35, ASU 27: Where did that come from?

CORVALLIS – Where did that come from? After lamenting a lack of big plays for a majority of the season, the Beavers came through in a big way, upsetting No. 6 Arizona State, 35-27 in the process. The Beavers quite literally sprinted out to an early lead - Storm Woods broke a 78-yard touchdown run, and shortly after that Terron Ward scored on a 66-yard run – both in the first quarter.

Beavs run wild, crank up D, stun No. 6 ASU!

Beavs run wild, crank up D, stun No. 6 ASU!

OREGON STATE played a physically, punishing game on a frigid Saturday night in Corvallis. And in crunch time in the fourth quarter, Oregon State just went off on No. 6 Arizona State. First they grabbed the lead, storming back from a 10-point halftime deficit on the way to outscoring ASU 21-3 in the second half. At the end and with everything on the line, the Doctor was in and Alexander was Great.
