Brent McNeil of El Camino Community College in California and Stephen Paea (Paw-A-uh) of Snow College in Utah have signed national letters of intent to play football at Oregon State University.
McNeil is a 6-3, 325-pound offensive lineman who attended Birmingham High School
in Van Nuys, Calif., before enrolling at El Camino. He has three years of
eligibility remaining and a redshirt season. He will likely play tackle at OSU.
“The Pac 10 is where it’s at out here,” McNeil told
BeaverFootball.com. “I’m a good pass-blocker because of my technique and I’m
pretty athletic."
McNeil joins former El Camino standout and Emerald Bowl starting quarterback
Lyle Moevao on the Beavers’ roster. El Camino Warriors to make an impact at OSU
also include former linebackers Keith Ellison (Buffalo Bills) and Tevita Moala,
and defensive linemen DeLawrence Grant and LaDairis Jackson.
Paea is a 6-2, 295-pound defensive tackle prospect. He has three years of
eligibility remaining following a redshirt season in 2006. The native of the
Tonga Islands helped the Badgers to an undefeated regular season before the team
lost in the Top of the Mountains National Championship game. Paea attended
Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, where he was an all-region selection. He
also was a prep standout in the shot put.
"He's still pretty raw and learning, so he's got a
lot of upside and potential," El Camino strength and conditioning coach Tyler Hughes told BeaverFootball.com. "but he's got some real natural strength
and power that will make him a pretty good player for them,"
The mid-year junior college transfer signing period began Wednesday and
continues through Jan. 15.
