DESPITE WASHINGTON HOLDING a commanding 57-31-4 lead in the series versus Oregon State, the Beavers have started to dominate of late winning the last three in Husky Stadium and five of the last seven. The last time the Huskies defeated the Beavers in Seattle was 10 years ago in 1998 when Mike Riley was in his first year as head coach at OSU.

Oregon State and Washington met...
Nov. 10, 2007 in Corvallis - Oregon State 28, Washington 23
Oregon State
and Washington met late in the year at Corvallis with the Beavers taking a 29-23
decision in a mostly defensive battle. It would be the beginning of a four-game
winning streak to end the season for OSU taking the Beavers’ record from
5-4 to 9-4 at year’s end.
Oregon State led
29-10 midway through the fourth quarter, primarily by virtue of five Alexis
Serna field goals and Dennis Christopher’s touchdown
on a blocked punt return, and the Beavers fended off a late comeback bid by
the Huskies to hang on for the victory. UW QB Carl Bonnell ran
for one TD and threw two fourth-quarter scoring passes in the Huskies’
failed comeback attempt.
The teams were
almost even in total offense with UW holding a slim 334-328 advantage. ...

Oregon State played in Seattle...
Oct. 14, 2006 in Seattle - Oregon State 27, Washington 17
Oregon State and Washington met at Seattle with the Beavers overcoming a 17-10
halftime deficit to win 27-17 and begin a stretch that would see OSU win eight
of its final nine games.
The numbers favored
the Beavers as OSU went for 488 yards total offense (180 rushing, 308 passing),
while limiting UW to 256 yards (84 rushing, 172 passing) and posting six QB
sacks.
TB Yvenson
Bernard rushed for 144 yards and two TDs for the Beavers and WR Sammie
Stroughter earned Pac-10 offensive player of the week honors for his
seven receptions for 223 yards (31.9 yards per catch) and one score ... more

Last time
Washington played...
Oct. 4, 2008 in Tucson - Arizona 48, Washington 14
Arizona did everything they wanted to, and even a little bit more. The Wildcats
gave Mike Stoops his first home win ever in October with a
48-14 pounding over an out-matched and underwhelming Washington team in front
of 55,624 at Arizona Stadium Saturday night.
With new UW Athletic
Director Scott Woodward watching, Husky Head Coach Tyrone
Willingham did just about everything he could to show why he's not
the man to bring Washington's football back to respectability. Woodward talked
to reporters after the game and reiterated his position that he will give Willingham
the season to turn things around ... more

Oregon State played...
Oct. 11, 2008 in Corvallis - Oregon State 66, Washington State

THERE WAS ACTUALLY slight hiccup along the way but Oregon State dominated on
both sides of the ball both before and after, and dispatched Washington State
66-13 in Corvallis. The Beavs outgained the Cougars by a margin of 4-to-1 in
the first half, and yet it was still a game at the break. But two third quarter
strikes put an end any doubt about who would come out on top. And OSU kept on
rolling.
It could not have
started out any better for Oregon State. And it ended pretty well, too.
The Beavs found
the end zone on two plays on their first drive, eventually rolling up 21 first
quarter points ... more

Series
history (Washington 57-31-4, In Seattle 32-18-2).
Washington and Oregon State have met 92 times dating to 1897 with the Huskies
leading the old Pacific Northwest rivalry 57-31-4. In 52 games at Seattle, UW
leads 32-18-2. The Beavers won the first meeting 16-0 at home.
The series against
the Beavers is the second longest active series in Washington football history
in terms of years and third longest in terms of total meetings.
The Beavers have
turned around a lopsided stretch by winning the last four games, a first in
the Beaver-Husky series, and five of the last seven. Oregon State has won four
straight before in Seattle though as they won from 1945-51 in Husky Stadium.
Three of the four
recent OSU wins all came at Seattle. The last time Washington beat Oregon State
was in 2003 at Reser Stadium (38-17).
Before that the
Dawgs won 25 of 27 games from 1975-2003.

Washington connections.
- The most notable
connection between the Washington and Oregon State football teams is the fact
that Reggie Davis, the Beavers’ first-year running
backs coach, is a former Husky tight end and UW graduate. Davis, who earned
four letters at Washington (1995-98), played under Beavers coach Mike
Riley during Riley’s tenure as the San Diego Chargers’
head coach.
- Oregon State’s
current roster includes eight players that graduated from Washington high
schools: freshman P Johnny Hekker (Bothell), freshman
WR Geno Munoz (Tacoma/Mt. Tahoma), freshman DB Brian
Watkins and S Anthony Watkins (both from Burien/Highline),
freshman PK Matt Barker (Sprague/Gonzaga Prep), sophomore
OL Alex Linnenkohl (Olympia/Capital), freshman OL Colin
Kelly (Kelso) and freshman TE Joe Halahuni (Orting).
- UW secondary
coach J.D. Williams and OSU special teams coordinator Dave
Ungerer were on the same staff at Cal in 2002.
- Washington first-year
running backs coach Steve Gervais was a four-year letterman
quarterback at OSU from 1972-75 and Husky offensive coordinator Tim
Lappano held the same role at OSU from 2000-03 working with Beaver
linebacker coach Greg Newhouse.
- Washington’s
roster includes only two players from the state of Oregon: freshman WR Jordan
Polk (Portland/Lincoln) and RS-freshman OL Scott Shugert
(Oregon City).
- Several Huskies
and Beavers attended the same high school somewhere other than Washington
or Oregon. Husky Mykenna Ikehara attended Kamehameha High
in Honolulu, the same as OSU’s Brandon Hardin, David Pa’aluhi,
Aaron Nichols, Ryan Pohl and Wilder McAndrews. Husky tailback Brandon
Johnson and OSU CB David Ross both attended Dominguez
High while Husky Willie Griffin and Beaver Patrick
Henderson both went to Oakland’s McClymonds HS. UW C Gregory
Christine and OSU LB Dwight Roberson were classmates
at St. Bonaventure in Oxnard while Husky long snapper Danny Morovick
and Beavers OL Gregg Peat were teammates at Mission Viejo.
Lastly, UW DB Matt Mosley and OSU DT Mitchel Hunt
both attended Corona del Sol in the Phoenix area.
