2003: Had 27 touchbacks on his 74 kickoffs...opponents averaged just 20.1 yards per return; Clemson led the ACC in kickoff return coverage...opponents started at their own 20 or worse 42 of his 74 kickoffs (56.8 percent); in 2002, opponents started at their own 20 or worse just 21 of 67 opportunities (31.3 percent); Clemson kickers had just nine touchbacks the year before Dean arrived...the 27 touchbacks were the most for a Tiger since Tommy Bowden arrived at Clemson...named Clemson's Special Teams Player-of-the-Week by the Tiger coaches for the South Carolina game when he had four touchbacks...played an important role in the Peach Bowl win; Tennessee's average starting field position was its own 25.
2004: Rated the top kicker in the state by Scout.com...#21 prospect in South Carolina and All-Mid Atlantic team member by SuperPrep...#23 prospect in the state by Scout.com...PrepStar All-Atlantic Region member...one of the Charlotte Observer's Top 25 prospects in the state...2002 Shrine Bowl participant...All-Lakelands, all-region, and special teams MVP his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons...all-state AAAA in 2001 and all class, all-state in 2002...converted 42-43 extra point attempts and 9-12 field goals, with a long of 45 yards, his senior year...had a 39.8-yard punting average and 59 of his 66 kickoffs were not returned in 2002...won the MVP kicking award at summer camps at Georgia and Louisiana State with over 200 kickers...on the Ray Guy National Talent Search list...member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and FCA at Greenwood High...played for Shell Dula...chose Clemson over Florida State, Georgia, and Louisiana State...born October 21, 1984. |
