Durability has been an issue the past two seasons for Siegert who must remain healthy for any chance to make a roster.


Biography:

Posted 23/3.5/1 totals as a senior after totaling 30 tackles during his junior campaign. Moved in and out of the starting lineup since his freshman campaign.

Pos:

Stout, resilient lineman who chases to get involved in the action. Strong in his lower body, drives up the field and bull-rushes opponents off the ball. Plays with good pad level and is tough to move off the point. Intense and goes hard until the whistle blows.

Neg:

Possesses a short burst of speed that he cannot sustain. Must do a better job using his hands to protect himself.

2005: Ben enters the year with a team-high 25 consecutive starts...the most experienced player on the defensive line...one of the strongest players on the team...the top returning lineman on the team in terms of statistics.

2004: Ben had 30 tackles last season from his defensive tackle position...made a career-high six tackles against LSU and Arizona State...also had 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 quarterback sacks...forced a fumble against USC...started all 12 games...his play helped Oregon State rank second (USC) in the Pac-10 and 18th in the nation for total defense allowing 313.3 yards...the team also ranked first in the Pac-10 for pass efficiency defense (101.0) and third for rush defense (117.3).

2003: He started all 13 games as a redshirt-freshman and recorded 15 tackles...among those 15 tackles were four for losses and two sacks (UO, Stanford)...his play helped Oregon State rank seventh in the nation for total defense, allowing 288.7 yards per game, and fourth for rush defense at 84.4...he entered fall camp third on the depth chart, and moved up to starter due to his play and an injury to a teammate (Sir Henry Anderson)...Sporting News named him to its Pac-10 Conference All-Freshman team.
