| The class 4A Offensive (QB) and Defensive (DB) Player of the Year..led Astoria to its first state football title as a senior...passed for 2,362 yards (118-196) and 23 touchdowns last season, and added 1,770 yards and 39 touchdowns on the ground...three-year varsity starter...scored two rushing touchdowns and passed for one in the Fishermen's 19-11 victory over Banks in the state title game...Estacada HS head coach Brigham Baker on Poyer - "In real live action, he's probably the best quarterback I've seen at any level of high school football. Jordan Poyer is special. He's a class act. He's very humble. I'd love to see him be successful"...Jordan led Astoria to the state championship baseball game as a junior and was named a first team all-state outfielder ...his father, Faalaeo, played tight end at Eastern New Mexico and his mother Julie played softball at Oregon State before transferring to Eastern New Mexico...Faalaeo is now a youth football coach in Astoria...Jordan is a candidate for the Oregon Sports Awards' Johnny Carpenter Prep Athlete of the Year honor. |
