Oregon State receiver Micah Hatfield was taken to the hospital after breaking his leg Tuesday in practice, The Oregonian reported.

“They went down in a jumble on the sidelines on a deep ball," coach Mike Riley said.

Hatfield will miss the rest of the season but the coaches are optimistic he will be back for spring football.

"We're hoping we can get him back healthy for spring ball because he's got a ton of potential," Riley told The Oregonian. "and he was really making a lot of strides."

Biography:
First team all-state defensive back and wide receiver, and was a favorite target of fellow OSU signee Jack Lomax...45 receptions for 868 yards and 13 touchdowns in helping Lake Oswego to the state title game...also a standout in track, placing second in the 100-meter hurdles as a junior... Hatfield on signing with Oregon State -- "There were a lot of reasons, but the main factor was I like the family atmosphere. It reminded me so much of what we have at Lake Oswego. That's a really big deal with me."
