Canfield with back to back 300 yard games by DAN NORZ of BeaverFootball.com, November 6, 2009 at 12:11am ET
Sean Canfield Profile
For the second time in his career Oregon State quarterback Sean Canfield
has put together back to back 300-yard passing games. In 2007 he threw for
353 yards against Idaho State and 324 yards against Arizona State.
During those two games he tossed five touchdowns, but also five
interceptions.
This season the lefty tossed for 329 yards against USC and 305 last weekend
against UCLA, but there is a notable omission in the last three games -
interceptions.
The senior has gone 117 pass attempts without a pick while throwing for four
touchdowns in the same time span.
"Sean, in the last few weeks, has played as good of football as he he's
played since he's been here," coach Mike Riley said. "It shows us
all the development of the player at that position
"It has to do with confidence and growth."
The coaches showed a ton of confidence in Canfield last weekend when they
called a naked bootleg for him - perhaps a first for him while in Corvallis.
It wasn't a smooth play, to say the least, but he got back to the line of
scrimmage and got down before the defender could deliver a solid hit.
